Gettin' the Word Out...

Got an e-mail last night about an upcoming event.

The 27th Annual Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC) will be held in Orlando, Florida from September 28-30, 2012. This event is sponsored by the Second Amendment Foundation ( and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (
GRPC has traditionally been the place to meet national gun rights leaders and activists, to develop gun rights victory plans, and allow attendees a firsthand chance to hear movement leaders and make their voices heard.
There is no registration fee and attendees are only responsible for their own travel expenses (transport, food and lodging). Participants are invited to the no host receptions on Friday and Saturday evenings and a free lunch on Saturday. Each attendee will receive over $150 of books and materials at no charge. More information can be found on and
With dozens of speakers, GRPC participants will examine critical issues such as: city gun bans, concealed carry, federal legislation, BATFE policies, gun show regulation, and state and local activity. The 2010 elections will be reviewed, the 2012 Presidential race discussed and recent and pending Right to Keep and Bear Arms cases will be analyzed.
I've already exceeded my travel chits for the year (especially since I'll be gone the following weekend), but figured I'd do my part to get word out. Folks, if you're in the area - or looking to take a trip to Disney after hurricane season - this would be a great event to attend. SAF and CCRKBA have been doing great things and will continue to do so, and they'd love the support.
Hope to see you in Orlando!
That is all.

I attended last year in Chicago. It is well worth your time, and the price is right!

West, By God said...

Um, November is the end of hurricane season :)

Hurricane season is June 1 - November 30, when 97% of tropical activity occurs.

What is probably more relevant is that Florida's seasonal thunderstorms usually wind down by mid-October, so it is a great time of year to visit Florida. Be sure to get out of Orlando for part of your trip. Head east to the Atlantic Ocean, Kennedy Space Center, Cocoa Beach, Daytona Beach or further north to St. Augustine. Head west to the Gulf beaches of Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Sarasota. Also visit Tampa and Busch Gardens. Watch a Tampa Bay Buccaneers or University of South Florida Bulls football game. Tampa should have recovered from the RNC by then. Get out of those buildings, enjoy some sunshine on your face and get some sand between your toes. Rent a convertible. Do these things and you will come back.
