We Have Lost A Good Man, and A Good Friend.

OldNFO gives the sad news that Newbius passed away earlier this week.

I hadn't expected to start the day by crying.

Newbius is someone I am honored to call friend. He was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to chaperone my family and I through the Pentagon when we visited DC last year. We shot together at Northcoast 1. He arranged a blog dinner for my 40th birthday (and kept stealing my new custom Bowie knife!). We spent a good chunk of the NRA convention last year hanging out, walking the floor, having dinner, drinking beer.

It's so hard to hear that an online friend has passed away; it's much harder when it's someone you knew in "real life" as well.

I know this; he was a great friend, man, father, and husband. He was fiercely proud of his children; devoted to his wife; and loved making pizza - and 100 yard shots with his AR-10. He'd give you the shirt off your back if you needed it, back you up in a fight, or offer sage words of wisdom when needed. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. If there's anything we can do, please let us know.

Newbius, you will be missed greatly.

That is all.

WHAT!? Someone eMail me with the Details, please!

Right now that's all the information we have, Les.

I hope and pray that NFO is wrong on this, I really do...

Amen, Jay. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell is going on - in my own mind and out there.

I have an email in to NFO asking for any further information or details he can share, and will pass along as appropriate. Given his movements, I'm not sure where he is or when he'll get it, but I'll keep my blog updated as well.

For those who didn't know Newbius, here's one story I can tell. He got a wild hair up one time, and decided to see if Alan Gura (of the SAF and the Supreme Court Case of DC vs Heller) was able to come to a Blog Dinner. Alan said yes, and Newbius was always happy to talk about the game of Light Saber Tag he played with Alan on their Smart Phones.

And his Wife is one of the Finest Ladys one could ever hope to meet.

God Blessings on the Newbius Family.

That's right, that was my birthday blog dinner, where Newbius kept stealing - err, I mean, hiding - my new custom Bowie from Michael W.

He was tickled pink that he had Alan Gura's phone number - ALAN GURA!

Yeah I just snuck out to the parking lot. If anybody was to ask I would have said I was looking for the turkey I spotted this morning.

...I wasn't looking for a turkey.

I was so hoping to see him next week. The world is so much poorer without him.

I remember I had spoken to him about going to the Alan Gura dinner and then had to back out at the last minute.

I'm at a loss for words. He will be missed.

Well just damn!
Had the pleasure of dining with him, his better half and children.
Prayers offered and will have The Smarter Half do a lap around the beads.
Damn!

Thoughts, prayers, and condolences to his wife and family. They were his world, and I'm sure that he was theirs also.
